About us

The Na Homolce Hospital Department of Pathology is a medium-sized pathology center.

We provide complex diagnostics of bioptic material, including "high-speed" perioperative biopsies (where samples are taken during the operation and diagnostic endoscopic examinations), as well as cytological examinations, specializing in oncological cytology and, finally, in-depth post-mortems. 

Following the general profile of the hospital, the department also focuses on problems concerning tumors affecting the nervous system and works closely with other centers in this specialized area as well as with the German Reference Center  for Cerebral Tumors in Bonn.

Within the hospital, the department organizes clinico-pathological (biopsy and autopsy) seminars, during which diagnostic problems are worked out and it acts as a consultancy both within the hospital itself and for the network of other pathology departments.  Our physicians participate in under-graduate teaching at Charles University's 1st Medical Faculty, and in the post-graduate study programs organized by the Institute of Health Care Post-Graduate Education.  They also work on scientific-research tasks set by the Czech Ministry of Health.
