About us
The Department of Gynecology and Minimally Invasive Surgery specializes in treatments performed by minimally invasive methods using laparoscopic surgery. It is an accredited training center for gynecological laparoscopy in the Czech Republic and, as part of its teaching activities, it organizes post-graduate courses in gynecological laparoscopy for gynecologists from throughout the Czech Republic, which are accredited by the Czech Society for Gynecological Laparoscopy and Pelvic Surgery (CSGEŽ) and the European Society for Gynecological Endoscopy (ESGE).
The department is the headquarters of the secretariat and presidency of the Czech Society for Gynecological Laparoscopy and Pelvic Surgery (CSGEŽ) and an accredited center for gynecological oncosurgery.
The diagnostics and surgical treatment of gynecological diseases primarily covers the following areas: radical surgical treatment of oncological diseases emphasizing minimally invasive interventions, surgical treatment of endometriosis in all its known forms, urogynecology with the option of minimally invasive surgical or pharmacological treatment of incontinence, diagnostics and treatment of infertility and finally gynecological endocrinology.
The department has 26 beds and the average treatment time was only 3.6 days in 2004. 2,300 operations were performed during that year,
of which 80%, including oncological interventions, were carried out laparoscopically or hysteroscopically, in other words, by minimally invasive methods.
