About Us
In October 2005, Na Homolce Hospital opened the Czech Republics first Center of Robotic Surgery
Na Homolce Hospital is one of the leading Czech medical centers in terms of implementing state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic methods, some of which are unique to the Czech Republic and the former Warsaw Pact region. Approximately 80% of standard surgical and gynecological interventions are now performed laparoscopically, while minimally invasive techniques are increasingly being used in vascular surgery of the arteries, cardiac surgery, as well as in neurosurgical procedures to the brain and spinal cord.
The MULTIDISCIPLINARY ROBOTIC OPERATING THEATER, which was opened in Na Homolce Hospital last October, will ensure an even higher level of quality for minimally invasive surgery and the care we provide to our patients. The unit will serve the departments of general surgery, urology, gynecology, vascular surgery and cardiac surgery, with the possibility of its use by the department of neurosurgery in the foreseeable future. To date, nine surgical procedures have been performed in this facility.
The first robotic operating system was installed in Leipzig in 1998 and around four hundred surgical robots now operate worldwide. However the Na Homolce unit is the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic, which means that the hospitals Center of Robotic Surgery will also serve as both a national and an international training center for robotic surgery.
