About Us
The Department is divided into an outpatient section (pediatric and adult clinics) and a laboratory section (immunology laboratory).
The unit provides comprehensive therapeutic-preventive care of patients suffering from asthma, alergies and other types of immunopathological disorders and covers a wide spectrum of clinical and laboratory examinations. As part of the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Faculty of the Institute for Post-graduate Medical Studies we are now a continuing education center for doctors and other medical personnel working in the field of allergology and clinical immunology.
Pediatric Section:
Here a staff of 2 physicians and 3 nurses treat around 2.5 thousand patients and carry out a total of over 7 thousand examinations each year.
During the course of 2003, 944 children suffering from bronchial asthma were brought in for treatment, 658 of our patients had atopic eczema and 1,209 received treatment for allergic rhinitis.
Adult Section:
Over 5 thousand patients were treated over the year, of whom around half were patients suffering from allergic diseases (allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma) and the other half were patients with immune system disorders.
