We have received the Hospital of the 21st century certificate
On April 15th, 2011 the president of the Czech Medical Association (ČLK), MUDr. Milan Kubek, presented the director of Na Homolce Hospital, MUDr. Vladimír Dbalý, the Hospital of the 21st century certificate. The ČLK praised Na Homolce Hospital for having a great number of qualified medical personnel.

We can implant an “invisible” defibrillator
Cardiologists at Na Homolce Hospital have evaluated an entirely new type of device in the treatment of abnormally fast heart rhythm that is introduced into the patient’s superior vena cava. The advantage of the device is greater efficiency and the fact that it is completely hidden within the vein. Currently used devices, for example defibrillators, are mainly implanted under the collar bone where they are noticeably visible, according to the Chairman of the Cardiology Department at Na Homolce Hospital, docent MUDr. Petr Neužil, CSc., FESC.

We can introduce an artificial heart valve via catheter to the cardiac apex
We are able to implant new aortic heart valves with thin tubes (catheters) introduced to the cardiac apex. Artificial replacement valves function as the original, which is narrowed due to degenerative changes thus preventing proper blood flow. The procedure is suitable for patients unable to undergo open-heart surgery for various reasons and in whom the valve may be introduced through an artery in the groin.
